History of Sheely's Furniture & Appliance
Sheely's has been family owned and operated since the 1950s, when part-time math teacher and full-time electrician Dale Sheely started to sell a few hot water heaters from his wiring storehouse. Dale wired houses during the day, while his wife, Alyce, minded the store. Furniture was soon added to the mix. The store blossomed.
By only buying and building what he could afford, Dale avoided loans, high interest and partners. He realized that low prices and a true commitment to service was a formula for success that would stand for decades.
Purchase furniture or appliances from Sheely's, and you're not just buying a product; you're gaining a relationship with a staff of service technicians who average two decades of experience.
The Sheely Foundation
Sheely's Furniture and Appliance, Inc., has always felt a strong sense of community. The Sheely family has continued to live in, work in and support the local community for more than 60 years.
Sheely's sponsors many local sports teams and activities, the area's Booster Club, numerous school organizations and local charities. Sheely's donates to the Sojourner House, the Beatitude House and has teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make several area children's dreams come true.
Mr. and Mrs. Sheely specifically wished to help less fortunate area families. So, in 1994, The Sheely Foundation was established to provide food, clothing and special assistance for these families. The foundation works through many local church organizations to accomplish this enormous task.
In 2005 Sheely's helped furnish a family home with the TV show "Extreme Makeover Home Edition."

Sheely's offers free service on all our furniture for one full year from date of delivery or customer pickup. (Excludes purchases of as-is merchandise.)
Sheely's also provides premium service for most major brands of appliances. We maintain the largest manufacturer-accredited service department in the area. We will gladly provide factory authorized service numbers upon request for our out of zone and Pennsylvania customers.
Sheely's provides free layaway for six months for all our customers.
Sheely’s accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover. For the protection of our customers we do require the cardholder to be present at the time of use. Sheely’s is proud to offer special financing with our Sheely’s Credit Card (requires credit approval). Cash, personal checks, money orders and Sheely’s gift certificates also accepted.
Gift certificates can be purchased in any amount and do not expire. Gift Certificates are not redeemable for cash. The certificate is a negotiable item and may be transferred to another party.

If your purchase is going up or down a flight of stairs, hallway, etc., please be careful when making your selection of large pieces; armoires, sofas, poster beds and queen-size box springs, oversize refrigerators, etc. Take measurements of doorways, all openings, ceiling heights, etc., to avoid the hassle and cost of reselection and redelivery.
Stock merchandise is:
- An item displayed in our showroom.
- An item displayed in our showroom which may be temporarily out of stock in our warehouse.
Production and arrival times vary by style, model, fabric, and manufacturer. We can not guarantee delivery dates on merchandise not in our warehouse. Any stock merchandise not delivered within 30 days of availability requires layaway payments.
Special Order Merchandise
Having a one of a kind item made for you can make a room special and unique. We are glad to assist you in furnishing your home. A special order is:
- An item not displayed in our showroom.
- An item displayed in our showroom but in a different color, size, or finish.
- An item not stocked in our warehouse.
All special orders require a minimum 25% deposit. Special order production and arrival times vary by style, model, fabric, and manufacturer. We can not guarantee delivery dates on special orders. If you absolutely, positively must have your purchase by a certain date, we STRONGLY recommend buying from our inventory. Special orders cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged under any circumstances once Sheely’s Furniture has placed the order with the manufacturer.
Our buyer will audit the sales order for completeness and pricing accuracy. If adjustments are needed you will be contacted for approval before your order is placed.
If for any reason you fail to take delivery of your special order merchandise it will result in a full loss of deposit and payments made. Any special order not delivered within 30 days of receipt requires layaway payments.
Estimated delivery dates are based on standard manufacturer lead times and are subject to change. Sheely’s cannot be held responsible and will not compensate for delays in transportation, fabric shortages, production, or other acts that may result in a delay of a customer's order. Failure to deliver your merchandise by the estimated delivery date will not give the customer the right to cancel the order without the express consent of Sheely’s.
Layaways & Storage
An item is considered a layaway if the merchandise is here and not scheduled for delivery within 30 days. A minimum 20% deposit is required on all layaway orders. Additional monthly payments of 1/6th of the original balance must be made on each layaway order. All layaways must be paid in full within 6 months of the order or availability date. If you break or cancel the layaway agreement, 2% storage fees will be assessed on the value of the merchandise for each month the merchandise has been held. In addition, Sheely's also reserves the right to hold 50% of deposits and payments made on a cancelled layaway order if a refund is requested. Deposits and payments less the storage fees assessed may be used on purchase of other merchandise. A $75.00 per month non-refundable storage fee will be charged on all items left in layaway after six months.
Pictures, Lighting & Accessories
Any returns must be within 14 days. Merchandise must be in the original packaging. You will receive a full in-store credit or if refund is requested there is a 10% restocking fee. Due to the delicate nature of these items, they must be picked up.
As-Is, Closeout & Discontinued Merchandise
Orders for these items must be scheduled for delivery or picked up within 14 days of the order being written. Special sales events may shorten this window to 7 days. (i.e. warehouse sale). These items require a 25 % deposit. No credit card payments can be taken over the phone. These items are priced for pick up and may require a delivery fee if delivered.
As-Is furniture products do not carry warranties. Appliances still carry the manufacturer's mechanical warranty. All As-Is, Closeout & Discontinued merchandise is sold as a final sale, no returns or cancellations. These orders do not qualify to be put in layaway.
Cancellation of an order of stock merchandise within 30 days of being written will result in no loss of deposit. After 30 days all orders are considered a layaway and will follow the layaway policy.
Special order, As-Is, Closeout & Discontinued merchandise are non cancellable. Failure to take delivery of these items will result in your deposit being forfeited as a restocking charge.
Returns & Exchanges
All returns & exchanges must have prior approval within 7 days of delivery. There will be a $25 minimum restocking charge on any stock merchandise (excluding bedding) we pick up. The exact charge will be determined by management. The restocking fee is waived if the customer transports the merchandise to the store for return within 7 days.
Any exchange or return for a refund of stock merchandise is subject to inspection by the Sheely’s Service Department to insure merchandise is returned in its original condition. Original condition includes but is not limited to:
- No signs of wear and tear
- No scratches, nicks, or stains
- No pet hair, smoke damage, or missing parts
All returned stocked merchandise must be accompanied by your sales receipt. Special order merchandise will be repaired, not exchanged or returned.
Mattresses, box springs, and power bases once delivered or picked-up are not subject to return or exchange without the written return approval of the bedding manufacturer.
All applicable delivery fees, fabric and leather protection are not refundable.
All refunds take 7–14 days from the time your purchase is returned. If your order was paid by credit card or financing on the Sheely’s card your refund will be credited to that account. All other refunds will be paid by check.
For a variety of reasons, including manufacturer restrictions, technical issues, and constant change, we are unable to quote prices online or by email. Please contact us by phone or visit our store for assistance. Any of our friendly and knowledgeable associates will be glad to assist you.
Please be aware that we reserve the right to change prices, terms and specifications without notice. We endeavor to accurately describe every product offered for sale; however, mistakes can sometimes be made. Any typographical, photographic, or specification error in product description, pricing or offers is subject to correction or verification (including after an order has been placed). We ask that you contact us directly and visit our stores to confirm information about pricing, color, features, dimensions, availability and special order lead times.
All warranties, if any, on merchandise are from the manufacturer. Only the manufacturer and not Sheely's shall be liable for performance under such warranty, unless Sheely's furnishes the buyer with a written warranty, expressed or implied, including any implied warranties or fitness for a particular purpose.
Warranties apply to furniture and appliances which are subject to normal use in the home and not to defects that are a result of negligence, misuse or accidents, nor is it valid if the furniture or appliance is used in a commercial, industrial or institutional setting.
Sheely’s is proud to offer you comprehensive protection programs covering accidental damage to fabric and leather (some exclusions apply, see policy for details). These provide you with an easy way to receive service on your furniture if it is accidentally damaged.
Sheely’s also offers programs to extend the manufacturer's warranty available for all appliances.
Out of Zone Service
In warranty service will be provided at our store for items that have been picked up or delivered outside of our free delivery zone. Transportation of the product is the responsibility of the customer. Local factory authorized service centers will gladly be provided for out of zone and Pennsylvania appliance service.
In home warranty service furniture can be provided with a trip charge equal to one half of the delivery charge within the first year. For products that carry more than one year of warranty coverage is for defects and does not include labor and transportation.
Sheely's has one of the best furniture service teams in the industry. They can usually take care of any problem more quickly than the manufacturer and with less inconvenience to you. Sheely’s also provides premium service for most major brands of appliances. We maintain the largest manufacturer-accredited service department in the area. For appliances sold outside of our service area local factory authorized service centers will gladly be provided.
Bedding and power bases are non-returnable. Mattresses and box springs are warranted by the manufacturer against structural defects such as wood frames, springs, and border wires breaking. Ticking or fabrics on all sleep products are warranted for one year. Please note: bedding with multiple layers of padding may develop a "Body Signature" of less than 1.5 inches. This is normal and is not a defect. This means the mattress is doing what it is designed to do. It is conforming to your body and creating a comfortable sleeping area for you.
It is recommended and is a requirement of the manufacturer's warranty that queen size mattress sets have a bed frame that has cross supports to avoid sagging of the foundation. Please do not remove the "Law Label" attached to the product. The "Law Label" has coded information that the manufacturer uses to identify the mattress.
Always protect your mattress and box spring from soiling and stains. The manufacturer will not service or replace any item deemed unsanitary. Sheely’s offers a line of mattress pads that compliment and extend the warranty provided by the bedding manufacturer. A service charge will apply for any service required after the one year free service expires. Manufacturers of sleep products carry their own warranties. We can assure you that we will make every effort to provide prompt and fair service on these products.
Manufacturers of upholstery fabrics do not warrant for wearability or color fastness.
Vacuum the upholstered surface with a soft brush attachment weekly to remove dirt and dust that can cut threads or wear fibers. Fading, pilling and shading are characteristics of certain types of fabrics and are not defects. Pilling may be removed with a shaver. Upholstery should be kept out of direct sunlight.
All seat cushions should be turned and rotated (if reversible) after every vacuuming (at least every few weeks). This will help stop your cushions from twisting and provide even wear. If twisting does occur, simply open the zipper and pull the fabric around by hand. Zippers are there for ease of assembly by the manufacturer. Do not attempt to remove covers or to machine wash.
Leather items can be wiped with a soft dry cloth. We recommend, for the best care of your leather, the purchase of leather protection from Sheely's at the time of your purchase of leather upholstery. Leather furniture should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from any heat source.
Nature loves to be creative and, as a result, no two pieces of leather are identical. Even the same hide has shade differences due to higher or lower density of the material's fibrous structure. As well, there will be distinctive marks from barbed wire nicks, branding, scratches and even insect bites. These give each piece of leather upholstery a personality all of its own.
Only true leather can boast these marks and they are not considered cause for a warranty claim.
Dust regularly with a soft clean cloth, or slightly moistened with a natural polish. Avoid polishes containing petroleum products, since they may damage the finish. Even dust may be abrasive, so always dust with the grain and not across it.
Avoid putting furniture in direct sunlight, since it may bleach the finish.
Commercial glass cleaners may discolor brass or chrome finishes.
Be sure to always use felt discs, place mats (without rubber backing), coasters, etc., when placing lamps, glasses, hot objects, etc., on table tops.
Despite modern, water resistant finishes, it is very important that water not be allowed to stand on top of finishes or in decorative router lines.
When storing table leaves, always lay flat beneath a bed or somewhere out of the way. Standing on end will cause them to warp.
All wood grains absorb stains differently. Inch by inch, there will always be varying degrees of light and dark tones throughout. This is the characteristic which makes your piece beautifully unique.
Tilting back in chairs when sitting in them is dangerous and will loosen the glue joints. This practice should be strictly discouraged. Also avoid standing on chairs or hooking your heels on the cross supports of the chair base. Remember, decorative wood spindles are fragile and will break if subjected to undue stress.
Modern technology has improved much in the way furniture is produced; modern glues are less susceptible to drying up, modern finishes have greater resistance to marking, and expensive carved moulding can be produced for a fraction of the price. The one thing modern technology hasn't improved is wood.
Although wood has its beauty, it is far from perfect. It's the nature of wood to have knots, mineral deposits, worm holes and unusual grain patterns. Each piece is as individual as a fingerprint and will take the stain slightly differently - even two boards from the same tree. This is inherent to wood and is not a defect unless it interferes with the product giving satisfactory service.
It should also be remembered that manufacturers, striving to obtain a particular "look", incorporate wood's imperfections and other slight irregularities into the finished product. This is especially true of more casual styles like country. If such production "flaws" are objectionable to you, we would be happy to assist you in finding a style that’s right for you.

Sheely’s offers in-home delivery and set-up. As professionals, we do our best to take every care possible when delivering your order into your home. It is sometimes difficult to deliver furniture and appliances due to the size of doorways, hallways, stairwells and proximity of the driveway to the home. On a rare occasion, if an item is a tight fit, we may ask you to approve our attempt to deliver your item, on the understanding that we can not be held responsible for any damage. We trust you will understand and appreciate these conditions.
All C.O.D. deliveries must be paid prior to or on delivery or pick up of the product. No exceptions. If this is not possible, ask about Sheely's Credit Card financing. Sheely's Furniture & Appliance retains a purchased money security interest in any goods not paid in full.
Due to our large volume, wide delivery area and unforeseeable delays (traffic, weather, difficult installations, etc.) Sheely's can not give delivery times. Most deliveries are completed between 7:30 and 5:00. During inclement weather, Sheely’s will determine whether it is safe for our drivers to make deliveries. Customers will be contacted for rescheduling. Sheely's is insured to move only the furniture being delivered. Sheely’s does not move or hook up any electronics. If you are not home or a call ahead cannot be reached and delivery can not be completed, a charge will be added for redelivery.
Prior to your merchandise being received by our warehouse you will be given an estimated delivery date. The actual delivery date may vary from the estimated delivery date and will not give the customer the right to cancel the order without the express consent of Sheely’s.
Please do not refuse delivery because of minor damage or defects. Sheely's has one of the best service teams in the industry. They can usually take care of the problem more quickly than the manufacturer and with less inconvenience to you. Since your satisfaction is important to us, please let our craftspeople show you one of the reasons why people buy at Sheely's. You have 7 days to inspect for delivery damage. Sheely's will repair or replace any damaged or defective item at our discretion.
Sheely's provides delivery service to over a 150 mile radius including Cleveland, Akron, Canton, East Liverpool, Warren, Youngstown, New Castle, Pittsburgh, Cranberry Twp., Coraopolis and Chester, WV. - Please verify your delivery address and phone number for accuracy.
- Please make sure someone 18 years of age or older is at home to accept your delivery.
- Make sure the truck can get as close to your home as possible. Please have your driveway clear of any obstructions. If necessary, please park your car on the street to allow our truck to get into your driveway.
- Please have the walkway shoveled during the winter months.
- During inclement weather, please have plastic or throw rugs available to protect your carpet and flooring. Due to liability, our delivery team cannot remove their shoes.
- Please remove old furniture, as we are not permitted to move or haul the existing furniture. Sheely’s does not move or hook up electronics.
- Please restrain pets and make sure toys and other items are removed from areas where the delivery crew might walk.

Furniture may be picked up at our warehouse. Some furniture may require assembly; please see your salesperson for details. Please remember to inspect your furniture thoroughly before leaving our warehouse. We will assist in placing your merchandise in your vehicle, however, proper loading and securing of the product is your responsibility. No damage claims will be accepted once the furniture leaves our warehouse.
Twine is available for you to secure your load, however any protective padding is the customer’s responsibility.
We strongly suggest you inspect all items before leaving. Our personnel can take care of any problems during inspection. Any unnoticed defects requiring service will be handled under the original warranty period.
